Whether you’re looking to lose a few pounds or just generally want to get healthier, detox foods are all about feeding your body with feel-good vitamins and minerals and cutting down on foods with nasty additives. Whilst some detox diets may seem quite extreme, you don’t hassqdve to follow a strict plan to feed your body each day with some of the good stuff.

Here are some simple, everyday foods for you to make your body sing!

Avocados:


Widely considered a superfood, avocados packed full of fiber, healthy fats and even contain more potassium than bananas. Not only do avocados pack some serious nutritional benefits but they’re also loaded with antioxidants Lutein and Zeaxathin, which studies have to improve eye health.

Watercress:


With a distinct peppery punch, watercress can be hit or miss for some salad lovers, but if you’ve never tried it the nutritional benefits it brings are well worth a chomp or two. To bring out the best in your liver try adding to a mixed salad, blending into a green smoothie or even popping a few leaves into a sandwich for a little added crunch.

Lemon:


Enjoying a slice of lemon in a cold glass of water is actually extremely beneficial for your body and help to flush nasty toxins from your body and support the digestive system. If you’re stuck for ideas try grating the zest into cooking and baking or even use the juice as a marinade for a tasty salad.

Onion and garlic:


Any keen cooks will already know that onion and garlic are a match made in heaven. Not only do they make a delicious base for tons of delicious dishes but they also contain several powerful anti-oxidants. Both members of the Allium family, onions and garlic are the liver’s best friends and help to boost the production of glutathione, a detoxification enzyme which gets rid of nasty toxins in the digestive system.

Wheatgrass:


Another liver lover, the strong alkaline present in wheatgrass helps to boost liver function and helps to manage your blood sugar levels and regulate metabolism. Eating wheatgrass whole isn’t the most appetizing of prospects, but a handful in a smoothie along with other goodies is a quick, every day and delicious way to boost your intake of antioxidants.
