The New Year is all about fresh challenges and exciting adventures and what better way to kick off 2016 than with a new healthy way of living! Enter Veganuary – a 4 week long feel-good vegan plan that aims to inspire people to cut-down on their carbon footprint, reduce the suffering of animals and get eating healthy, raw foods all at the same time.
We’ve teamed up with the vegan visionaries Matthew Glover and Jane Land who founded Veganuary back in 2014. We’ll be giving you tips, tricks other and handy advice on how to make your Veganuary as easy, fun and exciting as it can be!
Why should I go vegan?
There are lots of reasons why people choose to try out being vegan for a month, all ranging from personal principles to curiosity! Veganuary gives you the opportunity to try something new, fun and interesting – you might even discover one or two things about yourself too!
Whether you’re passionate about the environment and want to decrease your carbon footprint, are an animal lover and want to see if you can cut down on your meat intake, or even if you simply want to lose a few pounds and kick-start a new healthy you, Veganuary provides the perfect springboard for you to achieve all these things. What’s my diet going to look like?
Going vegan isn’t complicated and your choice of foods certainly isn’t restricted. Not only will you discover some fantastic healthy new foods you never knew existed, you’ll also become better skilled and more creative when it comes to cooking! Here are a few ideas to get you started this Veganuary:
Before you throw yourself headfirst into Veganuary you might want to read up about different aspects of the vegan diet – just so you know exactly why you’re doing it! Firstly we recommend starting off with our vegan diet plan to give you a look at what you might be eating.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so get your day off to a good start with a nutty wholesome hazelnut granola. Made with crunchy hazelnuts, chewy raisins and various seeds packing essential fatty acids and all the protein you need to keep you locked up until lunch.
The weather in January can be cold and bitter, so why not warm those winter cockles with a delicious homemade soup! Whether it’s a chunky four bean and tomato soup, filling sweet potato and chili or a healing winter cannellini bean soup,these vegan recipes are nutritious, made from scratch and guaranteed to put a smile on anyone’s face!
The sweeter the things are in life the better and for vegans it’s certainly no different. With treats such as spice oat cookies and rich chocolate vegan brownies there’s no need to pass on dessert this Veganuary.
